THE ASYMMETRIC SKILLS COURSE – PRIMER (TASC-P)

The Asymmetric Skills Course – Primer (TASC-P) serves as the foundation of the RAVUS Solutions training pipeline and establishes the baseline competencies required to participate in advanced courses within the Asymmetric Practitioner Series.

Designed specifically for the American citizen, TASC-P introduces students to the principles, mindset, and practical skills required to operate effectively within an unconventional or asymmetric environment.

Every lesson is adapted through the lens of RAVUS Solutions' operational experiences, lessons learned from modern conflicts, and the realities facing American communities.

The purpose of this course is not to teach students how to become soldiers.

The purpose is to teach students how to think, plan, communicate, organize, and solve problems as part of a small team operating in uncertain and rapidly changing environments.

Students learn how resistance organizations function, how intelligence drives operations, how small teams organize and communicate, and how tactical actions support larger objectives.

Throughout the course, students are challenged to apply classroom instruction through practical exercises, planning events, reconnaissance missions, and small-unit tactical problems.

The skills taught during TASC-P form the foundation for all future Asymmetric Skills Courses.

WHY THIS COURSE EXISTS

Most Americans spend their time preparing for individual emergencies.

Few prepare for situations where families, neighborhoods, or communities must work together to solve larger problems.

History repeatedly demonstrates that during periods of instability, communities rely upon capable individuals who can organize, communicate, gather information, make decisions, and take action.

The challenge is that these skills are rarely taught.

TASC-P was designed to fill that gap.

This course introduces students to the fundamental concepts that have supported unconventional warfare campaigns, resistance movements, and decentralized organizations throughout history.

Students learn how small groups can create meaningful effects through planning, intelligence, communication, and disciplined execution rather than relying solely upon equipment or firepower.

The focus is developing adaptable individuals capable of protecting their families, supporting their communities, and solving problems under adverse conditions.

TRAINING PHILOSOPHY

TASC-P is built around experiential learning.

Students do not simply attend lectures and take notes.

They are expected to apply concepts through practical exercises, planning events, field problems, and scenario-driven training.

Throughout the course, students operate as members of a small resistance organization tasked with solving problems, gathering information, planning operations, and conducting tactical tasks.

The goal is to develop capable individuals who can operate effectively when conventional systems fail.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

• Understand the principles of unconventional warfare

• Explain the structure of resistance organizations

• Conduct basic intelligence collection

• Analyze operational environments

• Conduct reconnaissance operations

• Develop simple operational plans

• Organize and communicate within small teams

• Understand operational security principles

• Conduct Small Unit Tactics (SUT)

• Plan and execute hasty raids

STUDENT EXPERIENCE

Unlike traditional training courses where students arrive each morning and return to a hotel at night, TASC-P places students inside the training environment for the duration of the course.

Students should expect to live, operate, and solve problems as members of a small resistance organization.

Throughout the course students are required to sustain themselves, manage their equipment, plan operations, conduct missions, and work as part of a team.

The environment is designed to challenge students physically and mentally while exposing deficiencies in planning, communication, equipment selection, and leadership.

This is where learning occurs.

SUGGESTED LOADOUT PHILOSOPHY

One of the goals of this course is teaching students how to think about equipment.

Students are encouraged to organize equipment into three categories:

Fighting Load

Equipment required to immediately accomplish the mission.

Patrol Load

Equipment required to sustain operations for approximately 24 hours.

Sustainment Load

Equipment required to sustain operations for approximately 72 hours.

Throughout the course, students will learn the strengths and limitations of their chosen equipment and identify areas requiring improvement.

COURSE OUTCOME

Upon successful completion of TASC-P, students will possess a foundational understanding of unconventional warfare and the practical skills required to operate as part of a small team in uncertain environments.

Students will leave with a framework for intelligence collection, planning, reconnaissance, operational security, urban operations, and small-unit tactics that can be further developed through advanced RAVUS training.
